In this section, I present a selection of my personal and academic projects, including highlights from my thesis work. These projects reflect my journey in architectural history and heritage conservation, showcasing my research, creativity, and dedication to preserving cultural narratives. 

This personal project, developed for my GIS course, builds on the work I conducted during my internship with the City of West Hollywood, where I supported the documentation and stewardship of the city’s historic resources. I believe in the importance of visualization, not only as a tool for public engagement, but also as a critical resource for internal use. Planners, staff, and commissioners rely on clear visuals to better understand the progress and impact of historic preservation programs.

The Mills Act Program, one of the most extensive components of West Hollywood’s preservation ordinance, serves as the focus of this project. This map identifies the locations of active Mills Act contracts while also incorporating estimated household income data to analyze the distribution of historic resources and financial incentives across the city. By visualizing these patterns, the project highlights how preservation support is distributed and offers a tool for evaluating equity and accessibility within the program.

As part of my broader research and advocacy work, I developed a dedicated website to document and support ongoing preservation efforts for the Spring Rancheria in Riverside, California. The site functions as a living, digital platform that brings together archival materials, maps, oral histories, and community-based knowledge related to the Rancheria. This platform centers a landscape that holds deep cultural, historical, and spiritual significance, despite the absence of permanent architecture. The website allows for the layering of narratives, highlighting Indigenous presence, environmental knowledge, and patterns of displacement that are often excluded from formal designation frameworks.

This project reflects my commitment to expanding preservation methodologies beyond static reports or nominations. By using a digital format, the platform remains adaptable, allowing for continuous updates, community input, and the integration of new research over time. It also serves as an accessible, public-facing tool that invites broader engagement while supporting ongoing advocacy for recognition and protection.
